Our makeup bags are full, our skin regimes are getting longer and we’re constantly on the lookout for a ‘body fix’ to help look and feel our best, so what if adding a few foods into our diet could help stave off the pesky signs of aging?

Here’s our list of Vixen Top 10 Anti-aging foods:

Berries are super rich in anti-oxidants and Vitamin C which are great for your skin.

Dark chocolate (over 70% cocoa) protects against UV damage and increases the circulation in the skin – improving its ability to retain moisture.

Beans are really good for your heart and the more you eat the better they are. They’re an excellent source of low-fat protein, vitamins and minerals including Vitamin B and potassium.

Fish oil provides the body with essential Omega-3 fatty acids that help protect against heart disease, reduce inflammation and lower blood pressure.

Vegetables of all different colours, but in particular green leafy ones, are a great source of anti-oxidants that slow the signs of aging, and have been shown to protect against UV exposure.

Nuts are a good source of unsaturated fats, which are great for heart health. They’re also a good source of vitamins and minerals including Vitamin E which helps prevent cell damage.

Red wine is full of anti-oxidants and nutrients which help prevent heart disease – so your glass of wine a day really is good for the heart!

Fibre is great for the body because it helps rid the body of unwanted substances and keeps you regular. A diet rich in whole grains, oats, whole wheat and brown rice will give your body the anti-aging benefits of a variety of vitamins and minerals.

Garlic is a healthy and flavoursome addition to many dishes. It’s biggest advantage is that it’s a natural way of boosting the immune system.

Avocado has long been known for its anti-aging properties. They are a great source of Vitamin E and potassium, and have been shown to reduce cholesterol, improve skin health and lower blood pressure.
